An inertialess reel - the magnificent invention of mankind. By the third millenium the design of inertialess reels has reached a certain degree of quality, but still continues to be improved. The rigid competition of the modern world forces designers to search and find new decisions which make the reel all better.
To This article we will tell about last achievements in the field of designing of spinnings reels on an example of production of three unconditional leaders - Daiwa, Shimano, ABU Garcia. We not only will tell about design features of reels of these firms, but also we will try to help you with a choice of the reel for various ways of a fishing, and also we will talk about operation and care of reels.
As samples we have chosen six reels: on two from each firm in two price categories. These models possess all advantages

Modern inertialess reels: the big service life, very high quality, and also the most progressive constructive decisions.
All without an exception inertialess reels consist of four basic parts.
1. A hasp. Fastens on the basic axis of the mechanism and makes back and forth motions for uniform packing of a fishing-line.
2. A rotor - a rotating (mobile) part of the reel. On a rotor are fixed the handle and a roller stacking a fishing-line on a hasp.
3. The case with a leg for fastening to a fishing-rod - a motionless part of the reel. In the case there is a reel heart - a reducer.
4. The handle. Puts all mechanism in action.
In 1997 Daiwa declared a new direction in development of the reels under the name " The tournament renaissanse" (in transfer with English - sports revival).
Part of the new concept of a steel of hasp Anti-Backlash-System (ABS) - anti-round system. These are hasps of the increased diameter with expansion to a forward side. Work of such hasp is shown on fig. 1.
The Increased general diameter of winding of a fishing-line in a combination to increase in diameter of winding to a forward side of a hasp makes the coils of a fishing-line flying from a hasp at a throw, larger, preventing, thus, complication and increasing range of a throw. On such hasps the fishing-line can be reeled up practically level with a forward side, not being afraid spontaneous slides of loops of a fishing-line. Abbreviation ABS has received new decoding among the American professional fishers - Advansed-Ballistic-System the-advanced long-range system.
The big diameter of a hasp has allowed to increase diameter of brake disks of a frictional brake, having made its work, smoother and reliable (a photo 1). Now hasps ABS stand practically on all reels Daiwa.
Shimano equips reels Twin Power and Stella with hasps with the cylindrical basis and gives in the complete set a set of teflon washers. Having added or having removed one or several washers standing on an axis under a hasp, the fisher can choose at own discretion type of winding of a fishing-line - cylindrical, conical to forward

In 1999 ABU lets out well-known Suveran. Here the hasp has undergone really revolutionary changes. In a reel the cassette system of replacement of a hasp is applied. If earlier for hasp replacement in a reel with a forward frictional brake it was necessary to turn off a nut of adjustment of a brake in Suveran it becomes simple pressing the button. Adjustment of a frictional brake has moved on a hasp skirt, having made brake more accessible management directly at a take out of fish. Hasps of reels Suveran and Center Drag consist of two parts: cartridges with a fishing-line and skirts in which are not simply big, but very big disks of a frictional brake allowing these reels with ease to cope by toothy giants (a photo 2,3).
Manufacturers have understood for a long time, that the rotor should be balanced, that is not to have beat at rotation. In the early nineties Shimano, and then Daiwa and ABU have started to let out reels with completely balanced rotors. But if in the beginning the balance was reached at the expense of application of counterbalances making heavier a design now designers of all firms aspire to facilitate as much as possible a rotor, thereby having reduced its inertia at rotation, that in turn considerably increases sensitivity of the reel.
For the first time the extralight rotor was created by experts from Daiwa. Having applied computer calculation of the form of a rotor, and also extralight alloys on the basis of aluminium and magnesium and having replaced a traditional wire for the handle of a fishing-line packers on a rigid easy tubule, they have received a rotor with the minimum inertia at rotation that makes reels Daiwa supersensitive (a photo 4). After Daiwa on the same way go Shimano and ABU, aspiring as much as possible to facilitate rotors of the reels.
There is one more problem connected with a rotor which is successfully solved by these three firms, - a cross-section backlash of a rotor. In simple models of reels with a forward frictional brake the rotor rotates on one ball-bearing which has an essential axial backlash. It leads to that with increase in loading at the moment of a take out of fish or at use of baits with the big resistance at conducting such reels start to knock frankly. Not only that this phenomenon essentially reduces reel service life, constant knock loosens also nervous system of fishers.
As the rotor fastens directly to the central gear through which there passes an axis with a hasp on the end it is a question of elimination of a backlash of the central gear wheel. Each of firms solves this problem in own way. Shimano for the first time has started to establish on the reels in addition to the ball-bearing the big roller bearing rigidly attached to the case (a photo 5).
The roller bearing in reels Shimano solves at once some problems: provides an additional support for the central gear, that completely eliminates a cross-section backlash of a rotor, and also serves as the mechanism of instant blocking of reverse motion of a rotor.
After Shimano Daiwa according to concept X-treme (extreme tackles for extreme fishing) has solved a problem a backlash rotary not less cardinally, having established the central gear at once on two ball-bearings strengthened in the case under a rotor. Between two ball-bearings in reels Daiwa is also the roller bearing providing instant blocking of reverse motion (IAR) (a photo 6).
Approximately as experts ABU in reel Suveran designs, only the second ball-bearing at this reel have arrived also is not under a rotor, as at Daiwa, and in the case (a photo 7). The reel Suveran case is executed from an integral piece of aluminium by ultraprecise a milling (a photo 7), that provides an absolute coaxiality of all rotating parts of the reel. But it already a theme of the following chapter.
For last years the case of inertialess reels considerably " похудел", that is became more compact. Especially it is appreciable at reels Shimano and Daiwa. Daiwa as always has given to a new direction the capacious name - system of absolute comfort, that is all for convenience of the fisher. Actually this growing thin is provided at the expense of computer calculation of the kinematic scheme of the reel and carrying over of separate knots which settled down earlier in the case, under a rotor. At reels Daiwa it is the second bearing under a rotor, and experts ABU have taken out under a rotor and the hasp feeder, having cut " infinite винт" directly on a reel axis (a photo 7).
The infinite screw - the most perfect system for the today, providing hasp back and forth motion
. Such system allows to lay as much as possible exactly a fishing-line on a hasp, that in turn provides the big range of a throw. In reels Team Daiwa-S CU, Twin Power, Suveran, Center Drag (a photo 8, 9)
the fishing-line keeps within at the expense of the infinite screw. At reels Regal-Z and Sahara the hasp moves forward-back at the expense of an additional (parasitic) gear.
Such system much easier also allows to reduce the price of the reel, however and here designers have managed to bring improvement. At the expense of S-shaped cut in a side scene which is pushed with a parasitic gear, the hasp course is a little slowed down also quality of winding of a fishing-line in these reels a little in what concedes to winding in reels with the infinite screw. But reels with gear giving of a hasp more proof, to any to mechanical influences (the inaccurate reference etc.).
